About Kinellar
About Kinellar Rams
Kinellar stud is run by the Patterson Family. Kinellar originally was located between Gooloogong and Eugowra on the Lachlan River up until 2014. Kinellar was established in 2005 with the purchase of White Suffolk ewes from Prime Lamb Genetics, Junee and Kurralea, Ariah Park. Poll Dorset ewes were purchased from Kurralea, Ariah Park and the Trishlen disperal at Canowindra.
Kinellar strives to be the best and is a strong competitor in the show ring winning Reserve Champion at the Canberra Royal Show in 2008 and uses Lambplan to enhance performance. Kinellar places value on the visual aspects as well as performance, purchasing the Champion White Suffolk ram of the Royal Adelaide Show for $12,000 in 2008. Kinellar Poll Dorsets’ major influence has come from the purchase of the high muscle sire of Kurralea 05-412 who has semen sold to 12 studs and has been used throughout our stud. Kinellar uses Artificial Insemination each year using the best sires in the breed to accelerate the genetic progress. Kinellar looks forward to the future of sheep breeding with the introduction of DNA tests to improve eating quality of the lamb.
